The colors of the holidays. Many of us associate red and green with this time of year, but when it comes to fashion, brown is the hot color this season, according to Tina Square, store manager of maurices in Crystal Lake.
When designing your perfect holiday ensemble, “Think rich, chocolate, decadent browns,” Square suggested. “Colors have been trending this way for awhile, but brown will be ‘in’ like never before.
“Mix browns with other muted colors from nature, such as green — plus tweeds and plaids — and you’ll definitely be looking fashionable and fantastic,” she continued. “Brown can be brightened with yellow or orange. Purple, green, gray and red can also be coupled with brown for a sophisticated look.”
Suit Yourself
Suit separates are another exciting trend perfect for a holiday party look — or any time. “Investing in a piece or two to mix and match into your wardrobe can make a big difference,” Square explained. “Find a trendy vest or a blazer, pair it with a solid chocolate pant and it’s a great new look, fit for any budget.”
And suit separates are a perfect addition to your back-to-work wardrobe for 2010.
Shine This Holiday
Whether you’re looking for something special for a Christmas party or want to make a big splash at your New Year’s celebration, incorporate shiny metallics and over-the-top sequins.
“The more sparkle, the better,” Square emphasized. “When you feel radiant, you will glow with confidence and your personality will really shine at the party.”
Splurge! A Little
To help customers find the latest looks for the holidays in a fun, festive way, maurices offers Splurge! parties, after-hours events where ladies and their friends can try on the latest fashions.
“You get one-on-one attention from our associates and instant feedback from your friends,” Square said. “People have a blast, and most groups end the night with a mini fashion show to show off their new look.”
