August Garden Walk

  • Montelona Farm 6119 Broadway Road Richmond, IL, 60071 United States (map)

Join us from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, when the W.A. McConnell Foundation

hosts a tour of the endangered W.A. McConnell Farmstead off Broadway Road

and the summer gardens at Montelona Farm across the street.

View zinnias, dahlias, many, many colors of phlox, hosta, lilies, rudbeckia, roses,

prairie natives, heirloom vegetables and herbs. Sip wine or a signature cocktail

while you learn about local history.

Following a brief tour of 1852 Montelona Farm - a former McConnell farmstead at

6119 Broadway Road – the group will adjourn about 5 p.m. to view the 1860

buildings located 6102 Broadway Road. The property, now owned by the

McHenry County Conservation District, recently was named one of the “10 Most

Endangered” structures in the state by Landmarks Illinois.

Tickets are $25 for foundation members (or new members!) and their guests; $35

for nonmembers. It includes food, drink and stroll through a picturesque, summer

setting. Please wear close-toed shoes to join in our garden walkabout. Parking will

be on the street.

Registration to “A Wine Stroll in the Summer Garden” is capped at 50. Register by
