Free Comic Book Day returns to the Algonquin Area Public Library in grand fashion on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Drop by the Eastgate Branch or the Harnish Main Library from 9 am–5 pm to pick up some free comics while supplies last. We encourage you to come as your alter ego, wearing your costume of course!
But that’s not all. Harnish Main will host events throughout the day to add some WOW, BANG, and BOOM to your Saturday. Here’s what you can look forward to:
The League of Enchantment will be at the library from 10 am–4 pm for photo ops at our selfie station. These super cosplayers will wear some familiar outfits as they make the library their headquarters for the day.
Kids in grades 3–8 can learn to draw Space Fights with cartoonist Mark Anderson from 10–11 am. This event is open to all, but registration is required.
Children and teens ages 3–14 can enjoy some Superhero Crafting too. Just drop in to create comic, superhero, and Star Wars-themed crafts from 11:30 am–3 pm.
Two worlds collide for ages 3–14 when the Amazing Spider-Man meets Princess Leia to train a new generation of heroes and Jedi! Drop in for this amazing, intergalactic crossover event.
Programs with registration will fill up in a flash, so don’t hesitate. The Algonquin Area Public Library will be the place to be on Saturday, May 4, to celebrate Free Comic Book Day and Star Wars Day. While you are at the library, don’t forget to explore the bombastic assortment of heroic, out-of-this-world graphic novels, movies, video games, and soundtracks in the library’s collection to enjoy when you head home.
