Urban Agroforestry: a Look at an Urban Food Forest

  • McHenry Public Library District, Meeting Rooms East and West (135 & 136) 809 Front Street McHenry, IL, 60050 United States (map)

In this presentation, we will explore urban agroforestry. The art of integrating trees, perennial plants, and annual beds into urban landscapes; to enhance food security, boost biodiversity, and improve urban microclimates. We will discuss how transforming basic lawns, into productive green spaces can create local food resilience and boost community well-being. At the end we will show how we put all of this into practice on our suburban 1/3 of an acre site.
